Based on a true story, this show centers around the 1899 Newsboy Strike in New York City. The newsies, kids who sell newspapers and who are largely orphaned and homeless, do their best to scrape by. When Joseph Pulitzer, rich publisher of one of the city’s largest papers, comes up with a scheme to make more money at the newsies’ expense, the newsies revolt. Led by their unofficial leader Jack Kelly, they rally newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!
